Despite what you might think \ud83d\ude09, I have very little fat and need warm water to survive. That means I have to move around to find spots where the water temperature is just right for me (above 21\u00b0C). I spend most of my day grazing on aquatic plants, my main food, and I regularly come to the surface to breathe. I can grow up to 4 meters long and weigh nearly 600 kg. My reproduction is slow: I carry my calf for about 12 months, and it will stay by my side for around two years.<br\/>Even though I might make you want to hug me, I\u2019m a protected species, and it\u2019s very important to keep a safe distance when you meet me. Every interaction should be gentle and respectful\u2014just like me \ud83d\ude0a.      <br\/><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center has-ast-global-color-1-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-b0514d7c1c160c18aac508af7c7d0426\" id=\"aioseo-Le-chat-tomb&#xE9;-du-ciel\" style=\"font-size:32px\"><br\/>Where to find me?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"has-ast-global-color-2-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-7f8c45b83be335f6561e083a1691e652\">I hang out in warm waters, rivers, and natural springs. You\u2019re most likely to spot me in winter, between November and March. In winter, we gather there, sometimes by the hundreds, a truly impressive sight! Just when we thought we\u2019d come back empty-handed, a magnificent manatee swam right past our canoe. The encounter was brief but intense. The company seemed responsible and respectful of the animals, and indeed, that was the case. It was just the two of us, along with an adorable family of four, and our boat was the only one in the area. Despite the season, we were lucky enough to get a very close encounter with a manatee. An incredible moment, especially when Mrs. Manatee decided to snuggle up to me \ud83d\ude0d! Yet, when we arrived, the sign at the entrance said there were no manatees that day\u2026 and imagine our surprise when we stumbled upon a mother and her adorable calf in a truly idyllic setting!
